When Bran Stark arrived at the cave, he found Bloodraven waiting to pass on his knowledge; in the book canon, Bran merges with Bloodraven's consciousness and the weirwood tree, meaning Bloodraven does not remain as a separate living entity to continue the vigil independently after the transfer.
